About Heirloom Sports

Adirondack Golf® originated at a private hunting and fishing club in the Adirondacks, nearly 100 years ago. The members and guests struck"dog balls"(today's lacrosse ball) with hockey sticks and hit to any accessible targets, such as tree stumps and rain barrels. The game quickly evolved to its current format and has since been played on a nine hole course (circa 1919) with flags and holes.

Adirondack Golf® is akin to early Scottish links golf and played 'in the rough' with 2.5" diameter square dimpled balls approximating the gutta percha and 'feathery' balls of the 19th century. The clubs are entirely constructed of hardwood heads with hickory shafts and brass sole plates. The game is played in rustic, natural and challenging terrain and has been played exclusively at this private club for generations. Its 9 hole course finishes along a pier on a large clear pond, set below the club's main lodge.
